Kavey Safe Line-Up: Large Home Safes, Gun Safes and Wall Safes

Who Kavey is: a Chinese safe exporter with its own brand

The Kavey website is operated by Luoyang Kavey Import and Export Co. Ltd., which lists its address in Luoyang, Henan, China. Kavey says it sells home safes, gun safes, pistol safes and safes it calls "fireproof", plus rifle safes and steel furniture. It names Amazon, Wayfair and eBay as its sales channels.

Kavey also says it manufactures for other brands as an OEM and ODM partner. That fits one detail in our data: a Kavey KM-65W page on its own site appears under another brand label with a different fingerprint count. If two safes under different names look identical, they may share a factory. We don't name the other brands because we can't confirm which.

At our last check (Oct 2026) we tracked 34 live Kavey models on Amazon US. Most are home safes. A handful are long-gun safes and wall safes.

Kavey home safes: big boxes, keypad first

The bulk of the Kavey range is the keypad home safe in three shapes.

Single-door safes. The K-45, K1-55, KS-40 and KFW families are 15.7 to 25.6 in tall and 25 to 48 lb, per Amazon. Most open by keypad with two emergency keys; the W versions add a fingerprint reader for 20 prints. The KFW-45D and KFW-55D list a 3 mm body and a 60 mm door. The KFW-45D and KFW-65D put the batteries behind a rotating keypad, so you can change them from outside.

Double-door safes. The KM, KL and KO families stack two compartments, and most add a deposit slot. On the KM-75, each compartment has its own code and key. They run from 21.7 to 33.5 in tall and roughly 36 to 53 lb. Four emergency keys are typical. These are the Kavey large safe models that show up in searches for a home safe with a drop slot.

Bigger units. The K3-100 is 39.37 in tall and 95.68 lb, with eight 28 mm bolts, a locking inner cabinet and optional wheels. The KET-85D is a three-door safe with a separate keypad on each door, seven bolts in total and six emergency keys.

Bolt counts and sizes are stated on most listings, from three to nine bolts of 20, 22 or 28 mm. Kavey also lists a 60 mm door on many models. Bolt count is a marketing number until you know what the bolts go into, and only two models state body thickness.

Kavey gun safes and wall safes

Long-gun safes. Kavey's gun safes are steel cabinets with fingerprint and keypad locks:

• GKM-140W — listed for 4 to 6 guns, 55.12 in tall, fingerprint and keypad; a third-party listing with no bullet points
• GKM-138W — listed for 4 to 5 guns, 54.33 in tall, 48.1 lb, 30 fingerprints, racks that adjust for scoped rifles
• AKG5N-132W — listed for 20 to 25 guns, 52 in tall, 96 lb, 220-degree door; a bullet says up to 10 rifles of max 50 in
• AKG3-138W — double-door, 54.33 x 27.56 x 15.75 in; Kavey's site says 30 to 35 guns, the Amazon title 30 to 40

The gun counts disagree across sources, sometimes inside one listing. The AKG5N-132W says 20 to 25 guns in the title and 10 rifles in a bullet. Plan by the smaller number. Kavey's own GKM-138W page also describes a keypad-only version with different capacity; we use the Amazon listing.

Wall safes. The KW-135HD is 53.15 in tall and 5.12 in deep; the K2V-120HD is 47.24 in tall and 4.02 in deep. Both fit 16 in on-center studs, list four bolts on three sides and a keypad. The KW-135HD lists five adjustable shelves and two backup keys; the K2V-120HD lists a pegboard. Both are also listed as gun safes, for handguns and short items in a wall cavity.

None of the Kavey gun safes has a fire rating, a UL burglary rating or a California DOJ listing in our data. If children live in or visit the home, keep the safe locked whenever it is not in your hands, and keep the code and keys where a child cannot reach or find them. Storage rules differ by state; check your state's official guidance.

Kavey "fireproof" safes: what the listings actually say

Many Kavey titles say "Fireproof Waterproof". None gives minutes, a temperature or a testing lab. On this site that is not a fire rating, and the table shows "—".

There are two kinds of claim. Some listings, like the KM-75 and KL-85D, make that claim for the safe itself, with no numbers. Others, like the K1-55D, KFW-45D and KFW-65D, include a fire-resistant document bag; the claim belongs to the bag, not the safe. The KS-40 title says waterproof while the same listing's water-resistance field says "Not Water Resistant".

If papers must survive a fire, use a rated safe or rated box. Compare options on the fire-rated safes page, or put the bag inside a safe you have bolted down.

The cubic feet problem in Kavey listings

Here is the catch with Kavey sizes. The advertised capacity is often bigger than the outside of the safe.

The KM-75 is listed as 6.5 cu ft. Its stated exterior is 29.5 x 13.8 x 13.8 in, which is about 3.25 cu ft for the whole box, walls included. The KM-85D says 7.0 cu ft in a box of about 4.32 cu ft. The YK03-55 says 5.5 cu ft in a box of about 2.18 cu ft. A 6.5 cu ft safe in a 3.25 cu ft box. The Marketing Department measures differently.

So we leave capacity blank on these models and show exterior dimensions. Interior space will be smaller still. Measure what you plan to store, and compare against the exterior minus the door and walls.

Where Kavey is strong and where it's thin

Strong: access and anchoring. Nearly every Kavey safe lists emergency keys, many list an outside power port, and most list pre-drilled holes and expansion screws. Bolt count and diameter are stated on most models.

Thin: ratings and numbers you can trust. No fire rating, no UL burglary rating, no DOJ listing, no steel gauge. Capacity figures don't fit the exterior. Most specs come from Amazon only. Warranty runs from 90 days on one listing to lifetime on others.

How to choose a Kavey safe

For cash, documents and a handgun case. The single-door KFW models give the most stated detail: body thickness, bolts and outside battery access. Compare them with other brands on the safe boxes page.

For a business or a drop slot. The double-door KM, KL and KO models have deposit slots. Compare sizes on the large safes page, using exterior dimensions.
